Dr. deborah chisholm, md

Deborah Chisholm, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician who has earned a reputation as "a doctor who thinks outside the box."

Even as a farm kid growing up in Iowa, Dr. Chisholm knew by age 7 that her life calling would be ministry to others as a doctor.  She completed her medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 2004 (go Hawks!) and completed residency training at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, in 2007.  Since completing formal allopathic family medicine training, Dr. Chisholm has also earnestly explored nutrition as a powerful healing force in both acute and chronic illness.

Dr. Chisholm derives great joy in developing relationship with her clients (she prefers this term over "patients") and she defines success as helping individuals live in such a way that their health rarely interferes with their purpose in life.

Dr. Chisholm is happily married to David (alum of "the other U of I").  When she is not doctoring or attending interesting conferences, she enjoys hiding just about anywhere with a good book in hand, flirting with her husband, coaching and encouraging 6 youthful Chisholms, and combining delicious beverages, food, and rich conversation with dear friends.  She secretly likes to dance, and she hopes that someday their family will expand through the joy of adoption. :-)

dr. abby karius, MD

Abby Karius, MD, recently finished her family medicine residency at Carle Hospital in Champaign, IL. Although she completed a traditional medical education through Indiana University School of Medicine, her upbringing was far from traditional. Homeschooled by a chiropractor father and nutrition advocate mother, Dr. Karius has always been passionate about incorporating a holistic perspective into medical care. Dr. Karius’s favorite part of her job is the fact that, as both cheerleader and coach, she gets the amazing opportunity to watch people’s lives change.

Although doctor may be her title, what defines Dr. Karius is the rest of her life. She loves Jesus, her husband, her step-son, several pets, herbal tea, gardening, and all forms of fiber arts. Her favorite way to pass time is wandering through the woods attempting to identify plants, digging in the dirt, or knitting while listening to audiobooks.

natalie lanz, BSN, rn

Natalie Lanz, BSN, RN, is the newest member of the practice, joining us from Ohio. She earned her bachelor's degree at Malone University in Canton, OH, which started her interest in learning more about alternative methods of medication and healthcare. Since moving to Illinois in 2020, she has learned many new things, but mostly, she has realized the importance of using her gifts to bless others around her. She is excited to join CHISHOLM Center for Health and put her knowledge of physical, mental, and emotional health to use in a way that is helpful and healing.

Natalie and her husband, Nick, excitedly moved to Illinois due to Nick's desire to finish his Master's degree in Music Therapy at ISU. And, although they are excited to be here, they will always be OSU fans (Go Bucks!) and think housing developments in the middle of a cornfield is weird. In her spare time, Natalie likes to hang out with friends, play games, go water-tubing, and visit family. She loves listening to Nick sing and play instruments (maybe he's her own therapist?), and plans on him and his music being around for the rest of her life. :)
